2. Go to you Preferences

6. Type your new password on the “New Password” field
7. Type your new password again on the “Confirm Password” field

How To Change Password On Mac – If You Can’t Remember It

To reset your password with your Apple ID, just follow the steps below:

1. Open the Apple Menu
2. Choose to Reset the computer
3. When it’s back on, choose your user account
4. Click on the question mark at the password field
5. Choose to get a new password through your Apple ID
6. Sign in with your Apple ID and Password
7. Keep following the instructions to get your new password!

Change Password On Mac With A Back Up Key

This option is only available if you already got the FileVault cryptography activated, because that’s when you got your back up key.

If you have that, all you need to do is:

1. Open the Apple Menu
2. Choose to Reset the computer
3. When it’s back on, chose your user account
4. Click on the question mark at the password field
5. Choose to get a new password with your backup key
6. Type your back up key
7. Keep following the instructions to get your new password.

And no matter which way you get your new password, always remember to get a new one that will make your files and information safe – and that you can memorize better!
